Parent involvement is a vital link between school and home.  Forest Primary is committed to developing and maintaining close contact with the community.  Parents are valued by the staff and are welcome in school at any time.  Parents can participate in a variety of ways including:

School Association

The school has a school association consisting of 4 community/parent  members and 2 staff representatives plus the principal.  The association coordinates school planning, budgeting and ratification of school policies.  Each member serves a 2 year term.  Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month.
Parents and Friends Association:
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm in the staffroom.  Child minding facilities maybe available in 2009 depending on the need.  All parents are invited to participate.  The major role of the group is to enhance learning environments for children through organised fundraising and social activities and to provide a social group, offering friendship and support.

A number of committees are formed to fulfil various tasks around the school including;
Kinder Parent (Contact - Carol Force)
OHS (Contact - Michelle Ewington)
After School Care (Contact - Kylie Emmett)
Parents are encouraged to participate in such committees which are vital to the school’s development.

Volunteers & Visiting the School

We welcome visitors to our school.  All parents who come to the school to assist for any purpose are required to enter their name on the volunteer register which is kept outside the main office and wear the visitor’s badge.  This is for insurance purposes and also in case of fire or evacuation.

Parent Help

Parents are most welcome to work in classes and assist with a variety of activities.  Such a program fosters positive partnerships between parent, child and teacher.  A request for parent help is sent home at the beginning of the school year or contact can be made with your child’s teacher.

Parents at Home

The involvement of parents in children’s learning is essential and we strongly encourage parents to share in their children’s learning experiences at home.  For example: talking about the day’s activities, sharing home reading and assisting in homework.  Your interest will have overall educational benefits for your children.

Swimming Pool
Forest Primary is one of the few schools in Tasmania that has a pool. The pool is available to the public during office hours for a fee payable at the office.  All public users must collect the key from the office and are not to swim alone.  Hire fees are $3.50 per adult and $2.50 per child to a maximum of $15.00 for a one hour session.
