Replacement of term 1 progress reports
This year, we are replacing the written Term 1 progress report with individual contact with parents. We recognise the importance of being able to speak with parents, as a more valuable way to share how children have settled into their classrooms, their social interactions with other students and any additional information relevant to individual children. This also allows parents to also give us information about their child and any issues or concerns they’d like to highlight. So, over the coming weeks, teachers will be making contact with parents through a phone call, Seesaw or in person.
Stressica performance
Today, students will be seeing a performance by a Tasmanian Company called Stressica. This is a comedy which discusses managing stress and anxiety for primary aged children, told through the eyes of the character Isaac, whose stress manifests itself as a mischievous pest during the performance.
There are two different performances, one for early childhood and one for middle/upper primary. The show helps students understand emotions and how to manage different feelings in positive ways.
We are being joined by Edith Creek and Stanley Primary and are looking forward to an exciting live performance.
Forest Primary Parents and Friends Annual General Meeting
The Forest Primary Parents & Friends will be holding their AGM on Wednesday 24th March, starting at 7pm at Forest Primary School. The P&F do lots of wonderful work for our school, contributing to social events, raising money for classes or school events and maintaining a positive connection between the school and community. The P&F is a great way to contribute to the school community and build friendships. Meetings are very informal and provide opportunity for members to contribute lots of different ideas. Come join us!
CHSSSA and NWPSS athletics carnivals
The CHSSSA Athletics carnival will be held on Thursday 25th February, with around 35 Forest Primary Grade 3-6 students participating. The carnival will be held at Smithton Primary, starting at 10:00AM. The event provides students the opportunity to demonstrate their best athletic skills and can possibly be chosen for the CHSSSA Athletics team to compete at the North West event.
We were particularly proud of our senior House captains at the Forest Carnival, as these students demonstrated initiative, respect and maturity when helping arrange younger students for their events. Well done to all those older students involved!
The North West Primary School Sports Association will be holding their Athletics event over two days this year; Grades 3/4 on Wednesday 10th March and Grades 5/6 Thursday 11th March and we look forward to some sizzling Circular Head performances on these days!
JCP Leadership session
A former local policeman Will Smith, is CEO and founding member of JCP; an organisation empowering our young people to believe in themselves to do great things.
On Tuesday 9th March, our Grade 5/6 students will be attending Smithton Primary to attend a full day seminar run by JCP which empowers and inspires students to be the best version of themselves. ‘Students learn about the term ‘BEAST’ in a series of fun, energetic and engaging activities that have a focus on Leadership, Teamwork and School Spirit. Students have an opportunity to learn about their own leadership potential and how to implement positive engagement activities into their everyday life.’(https://jcpyouth.com.au/)
In Prep the students have been working hard in Literacy, learning the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. This week we have begun putting letters together to make words which we can use in sentences. The Preps have been doing a great job of coming up with sentences that are creative and are learning the importance of using finger spaces in between words and a full stop at the end of the sentence.
Year 3-4M have started their year learning about place value. We have been investigating how many hundreds, tens and ones we can use to create a number and how these can be manipulated. We were set the challenge to build the tallest tower that we could that added up to 500 blocks in total. Here are our great designs.
Kinder are looking for any donations of old pots and pans for their cubby house. Any donations can be dropped into the school office.
The Parents and Friends Association will be running an Easter raffle with raffle books to be sent home soon.
Donations of Easter raffle prizes can be dropped into the school office, thank you.
Bring your little ones along for some fun to our Little Learners program on Mondays!
9:00 am - 10:30 am in the Kinder room.
Please sign in at the front office first.
