CHSSSA Cross Country
Congratulations to every single Forest Primary representative at the CHSSSA Cross Country event at Edith Creek. Staff members and adults accompanying the group commented on what an excellent example of sportsmanship, responsibility and respect shown by all those Forest Primary students competing on the day.

Special congratulations to our CHSSSA All Primary School Cross Country Team, who travelled to Launceston yesterday for the State Athletics event. We took 15 students in our team - the top two CHSSSA competitors in each age group from Grade 3-6. Within the team, were 7 Forest Primary students. In amongst an incredibly busy and hectic event (with over 200 students for each age bracket) our students again demonstrated resilience, determination, and the motivation to run their best race. Congratulations to;
Maya Woolley with an incredible 21st placing for Grade 3 and a time of 9.09 (2 km)
Blayde Emmett also with a 25th finishing spot in Grade 5 and a time of 12.45 (3km)
Isabella Korpershoek (9.48)
Nate Kingston (16.08)
Tyler Kingston (9.09)
Fin Lockett (11.04)
Eli Fisher (8.56)

Volunteer thank you
With the term coming to a close, it’s a good time to thank our wonderful volunteers for their time and effort in supporting students in their learning and wellbeing. From volunteers in the canteen, helpers at cross country, assistance in the classrooms or as a parent helping P&F with cake stalls or quiz nights; our volunteers are special people who freely give their time and effort supporting our school. Thank you.
School Sports
With our golfing sessions coming to a finish, students have loved developing their golfing shots under the expert coaching from Golf Tas. If any children would like to head to one of our local golf courses with their parent/parents over the holidays, we have some children’s golf sticks available for loan, should you wish to take your child for a round of golf!
Over the next two weeks, we will have hockey representatives in the school, coaching the kids in the finer skills of hockey.
Department Inspire Award nomination
The Forest Primary Numeracy Team has been nominated for the 2021 Together We Inspire Awards in the Innovation in Numeracy Award category as a result of the work staff have done in implementing the Big Ideas in Number across the school, Multiplicative Zones teaching across grades 3-6 and work done by the numeracy team throughout 2021 to lead and drive professional learning within the school.
To be nominated for a Together We Inspire Awards is an acknowledgement of the excellent work being done within your area of work. It shows the school representing the Department’s core values and our commitment to inspire and support all learners to succeed as connected, resilient, creative and curious thinkers.
Professional Learning Day
There is a professional learning day scheduled for Monday 19th July. Students will return to school for Term 3 on Tuesday 20th July.
In HASS the 3-4 students have been learning about the history of Tasmanian Aboriginals. As part of this unit we had Camilla from CHAC to share her knowledge about aboriginal culture. Students were able to feel, touch and learn about aboriginals’ tools and how they would collect food and water. They also got the opportunity to participate in a smoking ceremony and build bowls out of reeds and kelp that they have cleaned and weaved.

The Prep class had a special visit from Cooper Hall and his Mum, Melissa on Tuesday morning. They brought along a very cute British Bulldog puppy for the students to cuddle and spend some time with. How lucky are they!!

Don't forget to fill in your reading log for the Premier's Reading Challenge and return to school before Wednesday 30th June.
Our lost property box is still overflowing with unnamed clothing. Please collect any items you are missing and also remember to clearly name your children/s clothing.
