Grade 6 Camp
Grade 6 and staff had a ball in Launceston for our Camp. Packed with learning opportunities at Beaconsfield Mine, Sea Horse World and Platypus House I’m sure we all learnt something new on our adventures. Along with these great experiences, were the opportunities to test our physical skills in rock climbing, zip lining and completing challenging tree top rope adventure courses. These activities certainly tested our resilience and courage!
I’d like to commend students on their independence, cooperation and behaviour whilst on camp, making it an enjoyable trip for all. Special thanks to Miss Cramer, Mrs Poulter, Mr Poulter and Mrs Ollington who gave their very best in what was an extremely busy week.

Learn to Swim
Learn to Swim starts in Week 6 and runs for two weeks from Monday 15th November until Friday 26th November for students in Grades 3-6. Information regarding swim times and requirements will be sent home in the coming week. Kinder to Grade 2 Learn to Swim will be run during Week 7, from Monday 22nd November until Friday 26th November.

Last week Kinder went on an excursion to the Yolla School Farm. At the farm the grade 11 and 12 students took us on a tour. We learnt all about how to look after the animals on the farm. When we got back to school we had our very first try at guided drawing. We used water colour pencils to add colour to our farm artwork. We hope you enjoy our excursion reports.

In 5/6 Poulter, students have been learning about location and how landmarks are a useful tool to explain a route. In our first lesson, we practised how to move around the classroom using landmarks. We then looked at a painting, a google earth image and a map of Cradle Mountain. We talked about the purpose of each image and how we could use all three to create our own images. Students had to draw their image onto a gridded map and include certain points of interest, such as Dove Lake and Marion’s Lookout. After the students drew their images, they had to explain a route from the Car Park to the Summit of Cradle Mountain using directional language and landmarks. Here are some pictures of the students’ images.
